Westcliff men's soccer kept its late-season rhythm alive Friday afternoon, turning in a composed 2–0 win over Pacific Union at Orange Coast College.
The Warriors, now 7–4–2 overall and 4–1–1 in Cal Pac play, followed up their road draw at PUC earlier this month with a convincing home performance that showed both depth and emotion as the postseason approaches.
After a scoreless first half, Westcliff broke through in the 56th minute when Lucas Rosell finished off a sequence created by Demitri Rodriguez Robles and Adi Vaknin.
Martin Slatsve added the insurance goal in the 81st minute, converting a feed from Sohaib Owais to seal the victory.
The Warriors dominated possession and outshot Pacific Union 22–5, with goalkeeper Olly Scott facing just one attempt on frame while recording his second straight shutout.
Head coach Randy Dodge called it a "good team win" that reflected the balance of a group gaining confidence and rhythm.
"I played a ton of guys today," Dodge said. "A lot of them got real minutes — 15, 20, 30 — and it was nice to see them work their tails off and be rewarded. We went through a war on Sunday, so it was good to come in, see the effort, and get a result like this."
The win marked another step forward for a Warriors side rounding into form at the right time.
Westcliff will host Cal Maritime on Sunday for Senior Night at Orange Coast College, looking to finish the regular season with momentum heading into the Cal Pac tournament.
