Bio
Coach Erik Zimmerman joined the Westcliff Athletics Department in the Fall of 23' and took the helm for both the men's and women's water polo programs. Zimmerman joined as the men's season was underway and in need of a leadership presence. With his guidance, the men's team was able to continue from last year's success as they won the 2023 Cal Pac Championship held at UC Merced. The team had victories over CSUM and UC Merced to be crowned the champs. Another notable win this season was the victory over D2 Concordia University, 14-12 earlier in the season.
Coach Zimmerman has an impressive record as a former swimmer and water polo athlete. Zimmerman holds records for most collegiate career goals scored all time 381, most goals in a season with 212, and most goals scored in a game with 14 in the CCCAA. He earned All American in swimming and water polo. Zimmerman's coach and mentor was two-time Hungarian Olympic gold medalist, Miklos Martin.
