Westcliff setting the tone for their 1st Year

Westcliff Lacrosse is finally set to begin their 2023 campaign. Coach Mike Song held the task of creating a new program here at Westcliff this past summer. 

Coach Song worked his butt off actively recruiting and spreading the word that Westcliff has a men's lacrosse team out west.

Westcliff Lacrosse will be looking to crack the scene of NAIA Lacrosse.

We talked to Coach Song about the season overall, some of the expectations and the goals for the team. 

"I tell everyone this is a special group of guys and a unique culture we're developing here at Westcliff lacrosse,

with players from not only all over the country but all over the world."

Coach, what are some of the goals for this season?

"As the first season for this program, I think it is important to gain experience, with the season, the landscape of the league, our opponents, and especially our academic structure." 

Westcliff Lacrosse will be looking at some brand new faces as it is a brand new program here at Westcliff.

James Patti will be one to eye on the field fighting for every ground ball and possession. Freshman Jordan Simmons and Transfer Malcolm Bell are two defensive players that will make an impact in the Warriors back line.

Westcliff along with having a lot of homegrown talent will also have help from a few athletes internationally. George Ogik and Hyosang Yoon will be making a big impact on the Warrior offensive core making them a dual threat to their opponents. 

Westcliff has the individuals in place and they will need it as they will play some of the toughest teams in the NAIA.

Coach Song mentioned that the matches to look out for are against #7 Keiser and (RV) Madonna University.

Westcliff will also go up against top ranked teams #10 Webber International and #5 Tennessee Wesleyan.

Westcliff Lacrosse were very busy in the Fall preparing for the spring season.

Coach Song made it a habit to have some team bonding events for his young and new team such as 3v3 tournament on the beach along with enjoying all that Southern California has to offer.
