Warriors sweep Pacific Union behind balanced attack

Westcliff men's volleyball delivered a dominant performance Friday morning, sweeping Pacific Union in straight sets, 25-14, 25-10, 26-24, at the James M. Grant Center.
The Warriors controlled the match from the outset, hitting .301 as a team while holding Pacific Union to just a .046 attacking percentage. Westcliff's offense spread the ball effectively, finishing with 37 kills and 10 service aces.
Gabriel Pizza led the attack with 12 kills and five aces while hitting .421. Tiago Silva added 11 kills on an efficient .733 clip without committing an error, and Tom Dempsey chipped in seven kills.
Setter Nikos Kalagasidis orchestrated the offense with 29 assists while contributing two aces and five digs.
Westcliff dominated the opening two sets, hitting .500 in the first frame and .333 in the second while limiting Pacific Union to a combined nine kills across the two sets.
Pacific Union mounted its strongest challenge in the third set, staying within reach before the Warriors closed the match with a 26-24 victory to secure the sweep.
Westcliff also received contributions across the lineup defensively, totaling 29 digs and 11 block assists in the match.
