The Westcliff men's soccer team showed grit and resilience Sunday night, clawing back from three separate deficits to earn a 3–3 draw at Pacific Union.
Despite the fatigue of a grueling road trip in which no bus or field in all of NorCal seemed to be in proper working order, the Warriors refused to fold.
Mohamed Sidi Haiba, Adi Vaknin, and Finn Pock each found the net, with Pock delivering the dramatic equalizer in the 86th minute to salvage the point.
"We battled back three times in the game tonight," head coach Randy Dodge said. "It was great to see the team come together and do what we did. Having some of the worst travel situations and the team you're playing be rested because their game got postponed was great to see. We had a lot of guys play really well, but Finn Pock coming up with the tying goal in the last five minutes was huge. He had two cleared off the line earlier in the game, so it was fitting that he finally broke through."
Haiba and Vaknin scored in the 24th and 54th minutes respectively, while Pock's late strike was the type of goal that leaders provide when their teams desperately need a spark.
Let's just hope the Warriors find a bus that can make it home in one piece.
Up next for Westcliff will be a meeting with Simpson Friday afternoon at the Great Park.
Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
