Valeria Brewer was almost perfect Thursday night in a supporting role for the Westcliff women's basketball team in a tidy 59-49 win at Hope International.
Despite playing just 12 minutes, Brewer finished with 15 points on 5-of-6 from the field, 3-of-3 from range and 2-of-2 at the stripe.
Brewers' fantastic performance was complemented up top by Hayley Berfield's 17 and Chloe Wright's 10.
Meanwhile, Jayla Reliford handled the intangibles, turning in six rebounds and three steals.
"Tonight we played with our brains and bodies," Westcliff head coach Andre Wallace said. "This was a great character and execution win over a really good and well-coached team.
"We did thing that aren't directly on the stat sheet, but those things drive statistical categories. When your team wins the categories, you put yourself in a position to win."
The Warriors were once against quite stingy on defense, as Wright, Berfield, Brewer and Maggie Lapray all picked up multiple steals.
The defense once again told the tale, as the Warriors enjoyed 33.3% (7-of-21) from the three-point line, while holding Hope to just 15.8% from range (3-of-19).
We were technically sound, physical on defense, on the perimter and the paint," Wallace said. "We took transition away from them and did a great job containing and pressuring the ball."
The Warriors collected 20 turnovers.
Up next for the Dubs (4-2), is a home showdown with Life Pacific.
The Warriors picked up the away win in the home-and-home series with a 65-38 tally on Nov. 12th.
This time the Dubs will host at Golden West.
Tip is scheduled for 2 pm.
