Head Coach Kenny Ma and the women’s beach volleyball team signed Westcliff’s first student-athlete for the 2021-22 season Friday, Landree Austin.

“We are excited to welcome Landree Austin to our Westcliff family as our very first recruit for the Class of 2021! As one of our top recruits on our list, Landree not only brings in great qualities as a player, but also as an individual as well,” Ma said. “Throughout the years, Landree and her partners have earned top finishes at Top Caliber Tournaments such as: p1440 National Championships, BVCA National Championships,  AAU, USAV Jr Beach Nationals, & Rox Series National Championships.”

Austin, a native of Southlake Texas, attended Southlake Carroll Senior High School where she shined on the sand. Austin was also a part of the 692 Beach Volleyball Club.

“The recruitment process for Landree was very smooth. From the very first meeting, all parties knew this was going to be a perfect fit. Everything that she wanted from a school and volleyball program aligned with everything we had to offer here at Westcliff University,” Ma said. “Here at Westcliff University, we are not only invested in the success of the program, but in the success of each of our athletes as well. We take great pride in our ability to mentor and guide athletes on & off the court.”

Landree joins a team that went 2-3 in its inaugural year in 2020 before the cancellation of the remainder of the season. The team recorded key victories over Marymount (4-1) and University of St. Katherines (4-1).

“We are looking forward to working with Landree and seeing her develop within the 4 years that she'll be us. She'll be coming in as an impact player and will definitely make her mark as a Warrior,” Ma said. “We have many big goals as a program, some of which include a Conference Championship & a National Championship. We believe Landree will be someone who will help us conquer these goals.”
