Westcliff Athletics is proud to announce the promotion of Coach Jerred Cook to Men’s Basketball Head Coach. Cook’s excitement to help this program continue its push towards undeniable greatness is contagious. He said “First, I have to thank God for blessing me with this opportunity. Thank you, Shawn [Harris], Dr. Lee, and everyone at Westcliff for believing in me.” Coach Cook’s promotion and respective job duties are effective immediately.
Joining Coach Cook this year will be Associate Head Coach Andre Wallace, Lead Assistant and Player Development Coach Kenny Franklin, and Assistant Coach Sang Nam.
Coach Wallace has a B.S. in Sociology from California Baptist University and is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Sports and Athletic Administration. He is excited to join the team and says he has “dedicated his life and purpose towards helping young people improve themselves in all areas of their lives, utilizing basketball as a vehicle to promote the values of faith, education, strong moral character, trustworthiness, discipline and work ethic; all skills that are transferable long after [they] stop playing the game.”
Coach Franklin earned his BA in Communication/ TV Production from Carroll College. He has over 10 years of experience in coaching and player development and is dedicated to “building winners with a passion and enthusiasm for the sport”.
Coach Nam will enter his 3rd year as an Assistant Coach on the Men’s Basketball Team. He also has over ten years of experience coaching youth and special education. Coach Nam plays a vital role in the team’s integration with the community as he organizes and provides opportunities for outreach and volunteering.
Coach Cook emphasized "It’s an exciting time, Westcliff Family. I’m ecstatic for the opportunity to continue to build and lead our men’s basketball program. Let’s do it!"
