The Westcliff University women’s basketball team picked up a convincing 71-46 win at Cal Maritime Saturday.
After a first-half in which Cal Maritime was able to slow down the pace, the Warriors picked it up in the second and blew the doors off.
Simone Hall was fantastic, leading four Warriors in double-digits with 18.
“It was a great team win today,” Warriors head coach Kyle Rouse said. “We had a lot of contributions from many players – many who were doing the intangibles – hustle points, taking charges and blocking out.”
Lauren Davis finished with 14 and Mary Dishoian added 12.
Mammusu Secka turned in 10 of her own.
Davis and Secka led the way on the glass as well, both finishing with 10 boards, while Dishoian distributed four assists.
Westcliff led by just a bucket at the break, but outscored Cal Maritime by 23 in the second half.
“The thing that impresses me about our team is that we can play tough and stay in games no matter what the speed of the game is,” Rouse said. “We like playing fast, however, we’re able to execute our half-court sets fairly well, which makes us tough to play.”
After picking up an impressive, 67-62, road win at UC Merced Monday, the Warriors travel to Cal State Bakersfield for a 2 p.m. tip Wednesday.
