Warriors Drop Match with Menlo, Sweep Irvine Valley College

Irvine, Calif. – The Warriors battled but could not withstand the storm, dropping a four set match to the Menlo College Oaks. Junior outside hitter, Marques Buggs, led the warrior with 19 kills (hitting 0.412), 2 aces and 5 blocks. Freshman outside hitter, James Santos, chipped in 9 kills and 1 ace, while freshman setter, Sean Collins notched 23 assists. Junior middle blocker, Alan Zelaya, had a team high 7 blocks. The warriors then turned around and regrouped, sweeping the Irvine Valley College Lasers on their home court (25-23, 25-21, 25-23). Buggs hit a blistering 0.529 with 12 kills and 2 aces, while middle blocker, Barry Greenough, also had a hot hand, hitting 0.653 and notching 9 kills. Freshman setters, Sean Collins and Spencer Hirai, split the setting duties and collected 14 & 15 assists each.

Up next for the warriors is a home standoff against the Arizona Christian University Firestorm. The match will be at Santiago High School in Garden Grove at 7 pm.
