Opening Week Complete, Warriors Earn Second Win

The Westcliff men's beach volleyball team played their second match of the week against the OC Riot and went home with the win, 3-2.
It was a similar scenario to their previous game where double pairs No. 1,2, and 3 got the necessary wins for the Warriors.
Doubles No.1 Ilias Lazaar and Jacob Titus won their match 21-18, 21-16.
Doubles No. 2 Tom Dempsey and Kajus Mazuronis won 21-17, 21-18.
Doubles No. 3 Gabriel Pizza and Tyler Brossard got the last necessary win 21-19, 21-18.
Doubles No. 4 Pawel Tuz and Lukas Pusvaskis lost 24-22, 21-18.
Doubles No. 5 TJ Meyer and Thomas Taufetee also lost 21-10, 24-22.
"The strategy was the same, we're always going to serve the weaker player across the net," said head coach Fernando Sabla. "We're always going to apply pressure on them and control what we know we can control, which is serving to him, playing defense on our side, and when they serve we run our offense.
"Our 4s and 5s played slightly better today and they'll keep improving."
The Warriors have started the season well as they look forward to adding a key piece in Djordje Klasnic who was overseas representing his country of Serbia.
Once Klasnic returns the team will have an idea of their level of play as they continue the preparations for the ultimate goal of nationals.
Up Next: The Warriors will have some time in between to practice and train for the next match on Friday, September 29th, at the OC Great Park.
