The game was exciting for the Warriors from the beginning. Junior shooting guard, Jordan Pierce was 3 for 3 from the arc in the first 2 min of the game, giving Westcliff a 12-0 lead. She continued to fire off and finished the game with a new personal record and school record of 7 total three pointers. The score was 19-2 when the Firebirds made their first basket.
During the third quarter, it looked like the Warriors might roll to a 20-point victory; outscoring the Firebirds 22-14 but the Firebirds put the brakes on that in the fourth quarter. Regardless of the late hustle from the Firebirds, it was not enough to close out the game.
Jordan Pierce, finished with a team-high 24 points. Champelle Kelly and Alyssa Starr finished with 10 and 12 points respectively.
“One of the big things we said in between the third and fourth quarter when they had a spark and momentum change was to remember our composure and our poise,” Coach Patty said. “That has been one of our focus areas of improvement all year.”
