Irvine, Calif. – Westcliff University, along with Athletic Director Shawn Harris have announced the hiring and addition of a new Women’s Basketball Coach. Kyle is coming to the university with 17 years of basketball coaching experience all of which here in the Southern California area. Kyle has been coaching in the Murrieta/Temecula area since he played high school there in 2002. Each school he has been at has had a successful track record and has helped build programs back up at two different high schools. Coach Rouse commented, “coaching at the college level has been my dream since high school and I am so happy I get to begin this chapter at Westcliff. Shawn and the University have a great mindset and a very strong outlook for athletics at Westcliff and I know I am coming into a school that has a lot of potential to grow”. Coach Rouse has also been a “mentor” coach in the WBCA (women’s basketball coaches association) for the last two years where he works with other coaches from across the country to help them and collaborate for ideas on how to become better at the coaching trade. He was also invited to speak at the WBCA conference, which is held at the women’s NCAA Final Four each year. His topic to speak on was practice planning and organization. Coach Rouse mentioned “I feel very blessed to be chosen for this position and I will not take any part of it lightly. I know it will have some learning curves but I have been taught to always be a lifelong learner and always take something out of any situation because learning can occur at any time as long as you are willing”. The Warrior Women’s basketball team will be in their second season and are looking to keep building and moving forward as a program.
