Volleyball Honors First Senior in Program History

Costa Mesa, Calif. – The Westcliff University women’s volleyball team honored their first senior in program and athletics history in their final home match of the season. Senior Co-captain Kaitlin Meyer is the first senior in program history. She has consistently been a stat leader for the lady warriors. A business major, Meyer excels in the classroom as well as on the court. While this is her final season on the indoor court, she still has eligibility out on the sand will spend two seasons with the beach volleyball team. In the final home match of the season, the lady warriors swept the lady eagles of West Coast Baptist College (25-9, 25-15, 25-8). Senior, Kaitlin Meyer, led all players with 15 kills and 9 digs, while junior outside hitter, Riley Hausner, added 13 kills and 2 blocks. Warriors Return Home from Arizona Trip 2-1

Arizona – The Lady Warriors went on the road this past weekend, playing SAGU-AIC and Benedictine University-Mesa. Westcliff made quick work of SAGU-AIC on Friday and Saturday, sweeping them twice. However, the Redhawks of Benedictine-Mesa proved to be too much for the warriors to handle besting the warriors in three. Westcliff was led by junior outside hitter, Riley Hausner, who had 8 kills and 3 aces against Benedictine-Mesa. Crissy Almorade and Kaitlin Meyer also chipped in 8 digs and 10 digs in the effort. In the second sweep against SAGU-AIC, Sydney Hill led Westcliff with 7 digs and Neliza Becker had 3 blocks. The Westcliff University warriors return home to face West Coast Baptist College on 10/26 for their final home match of the season, which is also senior night.

Westcliff Digs Pink!

Costa Mesa, Calif. – The Westcliff University Warriors made it a quick three set sweep (25-14, 25-18, 24-8) of SAGU-AIC on Dig Pink night. Senior Outside Hitter, Kaitlin Meyer, with 14 kills and 1 ace, led the lady warriors. Junior Defensive Specialist, Kassidy Beagan, led all players with 8 digs and junior, Vasiti Baleilomaloma, had 9 kills and with a blistering 0.667 attack percentage. The warriors are on the road this week, heading to Arizona to play 3 matches.

Warriors Drop Tough 5 Set Battle with St. Katherine

Costa Mesa, Calif. – The lady Warriors fought a tough 5 set thriller with the University of St. Katherine and came up just a bit short, dropping the match 25-16, 17-25, 18-25, 25-18, 15-7 in front of a spirited crowd. Senior, Kaitlin Meyer, collected another double-double on the season with 16 kills and 15 digs which was a match high. Junior, Crissy Almorade, dug 14 balls, while juniors, Vasiti Baleilomaloma and Riley Hausner contributed 12 kills and 3 aces. The Warriors are on the road again next week, facing off against West Coast Baptist College in Lancaster. Match time is 6 pm.

Warriors Return Home After Going 2-1 on the Road

Irvine, Calif. – The Westcliff Women’s Volleyball team picked up 2 wins on the road over the weekend. They return from their Oregon/NorCal trip 2-1. The Warriors battled back and forth through two 5 set matches with New Hope Christian College in Eugene, Oregon on Saturday. Senior, Kaitlin Meyer, notched 2 double-doubles, collecting a season high 22 kills in the second match. Junior, Riley Hausner, put away 9 kills in the first match and also collected a double- double in the second match with 12 kills and 13 digs. Junior, Sydney Hill, collected 20 digs at Libero in the second match. The Warriors swept Mills College in Oakland the next day. It was a homecoming of sorts for three of the lady warriors who have hometowns in Northern California. Warriors Prepare to Go on the Road

Irvine, CA – The Westcliff University Women’s Volleyball team will go on the road next week after their home match tomorrow night. The Warriors will take on the Marymount California University Mariners at home (Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa) on Saturday at 7pm. The Warriors are off to a strong start in their first season as a program. The team has a wealth of experience from several junior college transfers and is led by co-captain senior, Kaitlin Meyer. The Warriors will be on the road next week facing the 7th ranked Westmont College Warriors in Santa Barbara on Tuesday, September 11th at 7pm and then travelling to Oregon and Northern California. They will place New Hope Christian University on Saturday, September 15th at 11am and 2pm in Eugene, Oregon. They will then face off against Mills College in Oakland on September 16th at 1pm.

Women’s volleyball wins first matches in program history!

San Marcos, CA – The Westcliff University Women’s Volleyball team went 2-1 on the weekend at the University of St. Katherine tournament. On Friday, the Warriors battled but fell to CETYS-Mexico in 3 sets. The warriors came charging back on Saturday and downed the University of Antelope Valley and West Coast Baptist College in 3 straight sets and earned the first victories in program history. Leading the Warriors in the match against UAV was senior outside hitter and co-captain, Kaitlin Meyer, with 11 kills and 11 digs. Middle blocker, Aliza Atkins, had a match high 3 blocks. LADY WARRIORS BATTLE IN SEASON OPENER

SAN MARCOS, Calif. – The Westcliff University (0-1) women’s volleyball team fought hard in a three set battle against CETYS-Mexico in their season opener at the University of St. Katherine tournament. WU senior outside hitter Kaitlin Meyer (Sacramento, CA) led the warriors with 10 kills and 9 digs. Junior Vasiti Baleilomaloma (Suva, Fiji) had 9 kills and hit a team high 0.400. Junior middle blocker Aliza Atkins led all players with 5 blocks (3 solo, 2 assists). The warriors will continue tournament play on Saturday, August 25th against the University of Antelope Valley at 12 noon and West Coast Baptist College at 2 pm.

Westcliff University Adds Women’s Indoor & Beach Volleyball. Kristen Iordanova named head coach.

The Westcliff University athletic department is proud to announce the hiring of Kristen Iordanova as the Warriors’ new head women’s indoor and beach volleyball coach. Kristen Iordanova grew up in southern California and is an alumnus of Gretchen Whitney High School, where she was a starting outside hitter for the Wildcats. She played indoor club volleyball for Cal Jrs for several years and Mizuno Long Beach her senior season. Kristen went on to play collegiate volleyball for one season at Long Beach City College, where the Vikings finished with an overall record of 30-2, ranked 10th in the AVCA national poll, and 2nd in the state. After Long Beach City College, Kristen attended Rutgers University where she played volleyball and softball and was the recipient of multiple scholar-athlete awards for both sports.
