Warriors Show Consistency on the Track

San Diego, CA – The Westcliff Track & Field team competed at the Ross & Sharon Irwin Collegiate meet held at Point Loma Nazarene University.

Opening up the day for the Westcliff Warriors was freshman Kalonni Wilcox, jumping an impressive mark of 5.92m for his first meet of the season.

Junior, Cristina Chapi competed throughout the day in the shot put, javelin, and discus throw. Chapi commented that she “improved each throw in each event so I know that all that I am learning in practice is being applied at the meet. For javelin, I added in a new technique which made the run through more natural and effective. I was very close to a PR and I am excited to compete next week!”

Freshman, Skyler Madrid, also had a full day, she competed in the 800m, 400m, and the 200m dash. This meet was only her second time ever competing in the 800m, setting a personal record of 2:28, and she felt very confident in her performance. “I was able to develop a strategy to compete against the other competitors. I was boxed in and I needed to fight to gain position”. She also ran very close to her personal record in the 400m and 200m event.

The Westcliff Warriors will be competing at the 41st Aztec Open Meet on March 22nd at San Diego State University.
