Warriors Track & Field Team Opens 2019 Season

Cristina Chapi throwing her personal record at Westmont College.

SANTA BARBARA, CA The Warriors had 3 athletes, Junior Cristina Chapi from Spain, and the two freshman Skyler Madrid from New Mexico, and Kalonni Wilcox from Ohio, compete at Westmont University’s On Your Marks meet.

Chapi wasted little time to boost her personal record performance in the shotput throw. Her first throw was 7.9m to her final throw, 8.96m. Chapi’s previous personal record was an 8.78m.

Wilcox made his collegiate career debut running 7.39 in the 60m dash. He went on to run 23.75 in the 200m dash, in the mist pulling one of his quad muscles. Wilcox will use the remainder of the indoor season to recover. We will see him back in competition mode during the outdoor season.

Madrid championed the first race of her collegiate career in the 400m dash running 60.73. She’s excited for a successful season and lowering her personal record of 59.82.
