A native of Bulgaria, Coach Iordanov grew up in Varna where he excelled in indoor and beach volleyball. A member of the junior national team, Danko was a Balkan Junior Beach Volleyball Champion (1998), competed for the club Cherno More for 7 years, and was a Bulgarian Navy Forces Military Games Champion. He played collegiately for Rutgers University where he surpassed 1,000 kills, was named All-EIVA for three years, and was named Rutgers’ Male Athlete of the Year in 2003. He earned his BA degree in Economics and he recently received his M.A. degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration and M.S. in Exercise science from Concordia University, Irvine.
Prior to Westcliff, coach Danko was the women’s assistant at Napa Valley College for two seasons together with coach Kristen. He is also helping the USA Women’s Indoor National team and learning from the legendary player and now coach Karch Kiraly. On the beach he is helping with the USA Beach National teams at their training site in Hermosa Beach.
In the past 15 years Danko has coached college clinics, high school and club (boys & girls). In recent years, he has coached beach for Sandstorm, RPM Sand, VolleyOC, BVA (indoor) and Seal Beach Volleyball Club (indoor). Still an active player, Danko has been competing professionally on the beach for several years on local tours (CBVA, etc.) and nationally on the AVP tour.

A Southern California native, Coach Iordanova will be at the helm of the Westcliff Warrior women’s indoor and beach volleyball programs for their inaugural season.
Derrick Trent — Bachelor of Arts degree with special commendations in Communication Studies at California State University Long Beach.
Derrick is a native southern Californian, hailing from Bakersfield. He will be assistant coaching both Men’s and Women’s programs at Westcliff University.
Derrick loves Volleyball. As a player he came up through a successful club program in Southern California, placing at the Junior Olympics each year and won two bronze medals combined with All-Tournament team honors in 2006. In addition, he played for the USA A2 Youth National Team and earned a Silver Medal in an International Competition in Florida in 2007, making again the All- Tournament team and he was an alternate for the Junior National team. Derrick was part of the USA High-Performance pipeline for 8 years. He played on the CIF championship boys’ team in 2008, also winning a National Championship and earned First Team All- Tournament team honors, Newcomer of the year award, First Team All-League, and AVCA High School All- American. He went on to play at Cal State Long Beach Men’s volleyball program but suffered an injury that cut his college career short. He played oversees and he has been coaching in the past 8 years for several club teams with Icon, Brea Volleyball and Bakersfield Volleyball club, both boys & girls. He coached varsity and junior varsity programs at the high school level and excelled in winning a league title on multiple occasions. Derrick has looked forward to coaching at the college level and is looking forward to the new world of experiences the coming seasons with Westcliff have to offer.
