A native of Bulgaria, Coach Iordanov grew up in Varna where he excelled in indoor and beach volleyball. A member of the junior national team, Danko was a Balkan Junior Beach Volleyball Champion (1998), competed for the club Cherno More for 7 years, and was a Bulgarian Navy Forces Military Games Champion. He played collegiately for Rutgers University where he surpassed 1,000 kills, was named All-EIVA for three years, and was named Rutgers’ Male Athlete of the Year in 2003. He earned his BA degree in Economics and he recently received his M.A. degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. Danko is currently furthering his education in the M.S. program in Coaching and Exercise Science at Concordia.

Prior to Westcliff, coach Danko was the women’s assistant at Napa Valley College for two seasons together with coach Kristen. He is also helping the USA Women’s Indoor National team and learning from the legendary player and now coach Karch Kiraly. On the beach he is helping with the USA Beach National teams at their training site in Hermosa Beach.

In the past 15 years Danko has coached college clinics, high school and club (boys & girls). In recent years, he has coached beach for Sandstorm, RPM Sand, and VolleyOC and for Brea Volleyball Academy (indoor). Still an active player, Danko has been competing professionally on the beach for several years on local tours (CBVA, etc.) and nationally on the AVP tour.

A Southern California native, Coach Iordanova will be at the helm of the Westcliff Warrior women’s indoor and beach volleyball programs for their inaugural season.

Kristen comes to Westcliff after spending two seasons as the head coach at Napa Valley College. While at Napa Valley College, she guided the program to a 2nd place finish in the Bay Valley Conference in her first season (2016). Under her two seasons with the Storm, NVC produced 6 All-Bay Valley Conference players, several scholar-athletes & an All-CCCAA Scholar-Athlete team member.
Kristen graduated from academic powerhouse, Gretchen Whitney High School in Cerritos, California where she was the recipient of several academic and athletic accolades. She played softball and volleyball in high school and played club volleyball for Mizuno Long Beach. After high school, Kristen played one season of volleyball at Long Beach City College under CCCAA hall of fame Coach Donna Prindle. That year, LBCC was ranked 10th in the nation by the AVCA, were the South Coast Conference Champions, and were the state runner-up. They finished the season with a record of 30-2 with their only two losses coming in the California Community College State tournament from Goldenwest College, the state champion. After LBCC, Kristen attended Rutgers University were she played volleyball and softball and was the recipient of multiple scholar-athlete awards for both sports.
Kristen has been in and around the game of volleyball for nearly 20 years. She has coached club volleyball at various age levels for several years. Over the years, she has coached high school and worked several college and private camps and clinics. In recent years, she has been coaching at the 16’s & 18’s age level for Brea Volleyball Academy (indoor) and Sandstorm Volleyball Club (beach). She has assisted countless student-athletes with continuing their academic and athletic endeavours after high school. In the last two years, her club teams have produced several USA High Performance players and six AAU Academic All-Americans. Kristen also remains active as a player and most recently played for the NCVA NorCal Wildfire, which is a member of the USA Premier Volleyball League. The USA PVL is a USA Volleyball sanctioned professional indoor volleyball league that began in 2012. The league is made up of teams from amongst the forty regional volleyball associations in the United States. Kristen was a member of the NorCal Wildfire from 2015 to 2017 and competed at the USA Volleyball National Championships in Orlando, Florida in 2016.
