A native of Bulgaria, Coach Iordanov grew up in Varna where he excelled in indoor and beach volleyball. A member of the junior national team, Danko was a Balkan Junior Beach Volleyball Champion (1998), competed for the club Cherno More for 7 years, and was a Bulgarian Navy Forces Military Games Champion. He played collegiately for Rutgers University where he surpassed 1,000 kills, was named All-EIVA for three years, and was named Rutgers’ Male Athlete of the Year in 2003. He earned his BA degree in Economics and he recently received his M.A. degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University, Irvine. Danko is currently furthering his education in the M.S. program in Coaching and Exercise Science at Concordia.
Prior to Westcliff, coach Danko was the women’s assistant at Napa Valley College for two seasons together with coach Kristen. He is also helping the USA Women’s Indoor National team and learning from the legendary player and now coach Karch Kiraly. On the beach he is helping with the USA Beach National teams at their training site in Hermosa Beach.
In the past 15 years Danko has coached college clinics, high school and club (boys & girls). In recent years, he has coached beach for Sandstorm, RPM Sand, and VolleyOC and for Brea Volleyball Academy (indoor). Still an active player, Danko has been competing professionally on the beach for several years on local tours (CBVA, etc.) and nationally on the AVP tour.
