Baseball Assistant Coach

Randy Barker

Randy was born in Lodi, California and lived his pre-teen years near the doorstep of the Lodi Crushers (Padres, Dodgers) Single-A California League team. Randy developed his love of baseball by participating in as many baseball events as he could find as a batboy, ball boy, foul ball retriever and playing Little League. At 13, Randy’s family moved south to Porterville, California where Randy played baseball and football all four years at Porterville High School in California’s San Joaquin Valley. He primarily played first base but also played some outfield and designated hitter, graduating in 1976.

While he loved sports his strong ability and interest in analysis steered him in other directions. Randy received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Fresno State University in 1983. After 30 years in the aerospace industry working on the B-1, B-2, F-18, X-35 and others, Randy decided to combine his skills developed as an analyst in the aerospace industry with his interest and experience in baseball to become a baseball coach and a student of baseball analytics. During those 30 years in aerospace Randy did double duty as a coach and administrator of youth and adult sports teams for many of those years.

Randy is extremely excited about the opportunity to help build the Westcliff University Warriors baseball program from the ground level, and has very high expectations for his athletes both in the classroom and on the field.

Currently, Randy resides in Laguna Woods, CA with his beautiful wife of 41 years, Keithla and near his proudest achievements, his daughters Rebecca, Sarah and Jessica, and grandchildren Jacob(13), Elias(6), Zoe(4), Isaiah(1) and Evan(newborn).
